Caroline has over 15 years of experience in early childhood education, and their experiences as a queer and neurodivergent person make them passionate about creating equitable and inclusive spaces for young children and families. Throughout their career, they have had roles teaching infant, toddler and preschool students; supporting teachers and families as an infant specialist; and as whole-school administration for both large centers and small family child care homes.
When Caroline is not preschool teaching, they enjoy spending time with her wife and menagerie of pets, crafting, befriending wildlife, and playing cozy video games.
OLIVIA LOPEZ-DETERING
Olivia has worked as an early childhood educator for over 6 years, and she brings exuberance, flexibility, and a sense of humor to all of her interactions with children and families. Born and raised in Oaxaca, Mexico; Olivia loves sharing her family’s traditions with Blue Jay students through music, food, and language. She is a strong proponent for holistic early childhood education based in sensory exploration, communication, and connection.
In her free time, Olivia loves dancing to live music, adventuring outdoors, and engaging in mutual aid.
kay evans
Kay is an openly queer and neurodivergent person who loves to help kids explore their imaginations through nature and art. From her time as an instructor at Pedalheads she has worked with lots of young kids to teach them new skills, and she believes that having fun is the best way to connect with children to help them learn and grow. A couple of years ago, Kay graduated from Vancouver School of Arts and Academics with an emphasis in visual arts and theatre, and she loves to share her love of art with everyone! In Kay’s spare time, she loves to explore outdoors and clear trails, as well as play guitar, draw, tell stories, and even juggle!
